Getting quality HVAC installation in NYC can be difficult. Especially if you are wanting the system put into an apartment with the landlord approving the installation of the system. There are many hurdles you have to get through for that dream to be a possibility. I can help walk through a few of them.
In most apartments, there is not an HVAC system. Normally, you have to rely on a window conditioner or an indoor fan to keep you cool in the summer. In the winter, you are more keen on having a small space heater. In either cases, it’s up to you to provide that level of space comfort that you are wanting. However, some landlords are more than okay with having an HVAC system put in, as long as tenants approve and are okay with it.
Getting the landlord’s permission can be daunting. Some landlords see that as an added expense, but that could be easily taken care of through increased rent. Some might see it as a liability, when the tenants being able to control their own temps is a better suited option. Be sure to raise the risks and benefits of both with the landlord when discussing the options. Many do not realize that the greater risk is multiple out of date of faulty space heaters indoors and the fire risk involved with that.
The other thing to consider is finding an HVAC that has experience installing in apartments or single apartments. Some have just experience with installing in homes and won’t be able to properly install in apartments. Make sure you ask the level of experience with both when finding someone who can install HVAC systems.
When you do find someone in NYC that can install the HVAC, have the landlord and the installer meet and discuss what is going on. Make sure you are not violating any lease agreements and be sure you are getting the okay to install in writing.
